Please note: The yarn amounts listed for this pattern may or may not work for your whole project. Several knitters have reported running out of yarn for the last little bit. One remedy, if using contrasting colors, would be to knit a few more rows in your brim color before changing to the contrast color. Do keep in mind that although skeins are measured by weight, they can vary sometimes as much as 27 yards per skein of basic worsted weight. Another alternative is to purchase extra yarn from the start. Best of luck!

The NELLIE CRUSH is a quick knit and practical piece which folds flat to stow for travel or storage. Two versions are offered in the pattern. The first is wide brimmed and full of cottage charm. The second version has only a roll on the edge, creating a wide beret shape.
Easily knitted with yarn held double throughout the project and fulled to perfection, she is shown here in Merino wool now available through Ambrosia Cottage! Two contrasting colors were used for the wide brim version.
NELLIE CRUSH has a low, wide and old-fashioned silhouette and a warmth and grace to brighten even the fiercest of winter’s days.
This design is easily adaptable to Steampunk fashion with embellishments of that funk.
Another wonderful design for embellishing!
