Nemo Cardigan
’Nemo Cardigan’ is a top-down cardigan featuring stranded colorwork, where small squares form a cute pattern.
‘Ne-mo’ means ‘square’ in Korean. The design is inspired by a Christmas gift box, with a checked motif accented by vertical lines.
The cardigan is worked using the simultaneous method (body and sleeves are knit simultaneously), resulting in clean and seamless shoulder shaping.
Another key design element is the combination of perfectly matched patterned pockets and the button band and collar worked in double knitting.
The section from the shoulder to the neckline is worked flat in stranded colorwork. The work is then joined in the round with the addition of steek stitches.
This pattern includes colorwork charts and written instructions. (You have to know how to read the charts)
You can watch the technique videos and photos used in the pattern. (not a full video, not included basic stranded colorwork method)
The yoke construction is intricate and detailed, making this pattern unsuitable for beginners.
This is the perfect project for experienced knitters who thrive on a challenge and enjoy complex work!
