ABOUT NEPTUNE

Neptune masquerades as a pineapple, which of course is the perfect front for an undersea creature because anyone who happened upon him beneath the waves would probably just assume it was Spongebob’s house and move on, never suspecting a secret, jewel-collecting crab inside.

Neptune scours the ocean floor for shiny pirate treasure to hoard and keep safe inside his beautiful shell. He can often be found holding up a sparkling gem between his pincers, inspecting it by the beams of light cutting through the water.

ABOUT THE PATTERN

This pattern is part of the Projectarian’s Year of Fur event and part of my new Smuggle-Tuck Pets pattern series.

Neptune is a reversible amigurumi hermit crab that flips inside out to become a pineapple. The shell lid and pineapple lid are both removable and, depending on which way it’s flipped, can be stored inside the shell or the fruit. Alternatively, you can stow secret treasures inside your Smuggle-Tuck Pet or pack it with undersea friends like Hubble the Squid and Wishing Starfish (both of which are free patterns on my website).

The pattern includes tips on how to make your pineapple without fur and how to make the shell in one piece on its own.
