Some fun facts!

Nerine sarniensis,is commonly known as Guernsey lily or Jersey, Diamond lily or Spider lily. It is a flowering plant in the Amaryllidaceae family.

The flowers is named Nerine, after the beautiful sea-nymph, Nereides.

Exposure to cold temperatures can cause the flower heads to turn slightly blue.

In some species, the flowers will appear before the leaves develop.

The earliest published name for the genus was Imhofia, given by Lorenz Heister in 1755. Then, later named Nerine, published by William Herbert in 1820.

Nerine flower symbolizes freedom.

It’s the national flower of Guernsey.
