The New Growth Socks were imagined at the height of spring here in Australia, where all the plants and trees are exploding into new growth and the days are warm but the nights still hold a chill. During these times my favourite wardrobe staples are linen dresses, boots, cosy cardigans and lacey handknit socks.

This sock design gives detailed written and charted instruction on how to create a well-fitting toe-up sock with a heel flap and gusset. They include a reinforced heel for added durability and the ribbing and negative ease included in the design creates an end-result that fits well and won’t bag out or slip down.

The oh-so-simple lace is easy to memorize, making these socks just perfect as a travel knit or for when you want something satisfying yet simple on the needles.

The end result is a very well-fitting lace sock that fits well, stands up to regular wear and is reminiscent of those spring shoots raising themselves towards the sky.
