New Knitted Coatee
This charming little Magyar coatee is one of the latest fashions in knitted garments, and is decidedly original and attractive. It will be found ideal for slipping on over a thin blouse when the evenings begin to grow chilly. THE original was made of cream wool, with a border, tassels, and sash of rich yellow. Worn over a cream skirt, such a combination is most attractive. There are, however, many other colour schemes which would be equally effective, such as grey with mauve, or buff colour with tangerine. This little coatee could be undertaken by the most inexperienced kniitter, as it is knitted entirely in plain (garter) stitch.
Materials required: 5oz 5-ply fingering; 4oz of a contrasting colour; a pair of knitting needles, size 4 or 5; a pair of finer ones, size 8, for knitting sash.
The pattern gives no size or gauge, but it is probably for a 34” bust. It calls for 5oz (140g) of 5-ply (sport) for the main colour and 4oz (112g) for the contrasting colour.
