Both lacy and restrained, this traditional Shetland Isles pattern can be
knit in the yarn weight of your choice — lace weight for a light dressy scarf, fingering for a slightly heavier scarf and sport for a warm winter scarf. The pictured scarves were knit in a three ply fingering weight, one with beaded trim. The yarn of pure suri is a high quality #1 grade. The scarf should be comfortable against the skin.
Finished Measurements:
In fingering yarn, 3 ounces, 300 yard skein knit
on US # 6 needle the scarf is 60” x 10”. I also like
this done on #3 needles for a more restrained and
firmly knit scarf. Try a swatch for your preference.
Materials:
300 yd skein (75yds/oz) of 3-ply fingering yarn,
Grade #1.
One #6 20” circular needle or one pair #6 straight
needles.
For lace weight 300 yard skein, # 2 or # 3 needles
For sport weight #6 or #7 needles. Check
gauge in a 4” sample to see if you would
like it more closely or more loosely knit
