This newborn companion is a quick, easy project that adds a splash of colour and personality without taking up all your time. It’s the perfect gift, super-fast to make, yet detailed enough to impress.

Skill level: EASY, but not a beginner pattern. This pattern is written step-by-step with photos, but it does not explain how to do basic crochet stitches. A basic understanding of crochet is expected.

The pattern is made using a 3.5mm hook for the head and hands and a 5mm hook for the granny square.

Materials:

• 5 different yarn colours (or as many/few as you like) – great for using up scraps
• Approx. 130–160 m (140–175 yds) total of sport weight yarn (55% cotton, 45% acrylic, 160m/50g skein)
• 3.5mm hook, 5mm hook
• Small amount of stuffing (head only)
• Darning needle, scissors
