Newcastle Shawl
If I could knit just one shawl, it would be Newcastle. I find myself returning to it again and again, each time discovering new creative possibilities.
Please visit my project page to explore more Newcastle creations, each with its own unique charm.
NEWCASTLE is a sideways, bias-knit asymmetric shawl that starts with a slim tip and gracefully widens toward the opposite edge. This cozy, reversible shawl features soothing garter stitch, accented by delicate eyelet rows, and is beautifully finished with a faux I-cord edge.
AND - no purling.
Embrace the joy of experimentation by playing with colour in different yarn weights, and don’t hesitate to adjust the size to suit your preferences. Explore your yarn stash and let your imagination soar as you create a stunning shawl in a single colour, a harmonious two-colour combination, or a vibrant multi-coloured piece.
Newcastle is the ideal project for knitting with friends at the coffee shop or enjoying a cozy evening at home while watching your favourite shows. Its design has just the right amount of detail to keep you engaged without being overly complicated. It allows you the freedom to pick up and set down your work, ensuring a seamless return when you’re ready to continue.
In addition to the pattern, you will receive twenty coloured layouts featuring 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6 colour combinations. Blank tables are provided so you can plan and design your own Newcastle masterpiece!
Yardage requirements for each repeat are included, making it easy for you to create a stunning multi-coloured shawl from leftover yarn.
The instructions include stitch counts for each row, presented in a clear, row-by-row format.
Sections 2 and 3 are charted. Please refer to the written instructions for the Set-up.
Instructions, a video link and helpful photos are included for adding a new yarn and managing multiple yarn ends.
TIPS AND TRICKS is a 7-page PDF that provides detailed information about all the key aspects of the shawl. As an experienced knitting instructor, I enjoy sharing helpful tips and advice to enhance your knitting journey.
