The Newlyn Shawlette is a triangular shaped mini shawl, worked flat from the bottom up.
It begins with an I-cord tab cast on with stitches increased at both ends of every row.
It uses simple increases and decreases to push the fabric into a wave, an effect that is best seen when working stripes or using a single yarn with heavy variegation.
The increase / decrease rows occur every sixth row, with five rows of relaxing garter stitch in between.
Only one colour is worked per row.
Because of the bottom up construction size is easily adjustable. Work the repeat section until the shawl reaches your desired size. Sample in first photo shows four repeats.
It has a neat I-cord edge, worked as you are making the shawlette.
