Any easy-to-make unisex cap, traditionally knit in the salt-and-pepper colour (Threaded G & W) of Briggs & Little wool or wool/nylon yarn, worn by fishermen and musicians of Newfoundland - hence the name Newfie.

May be started off with straight needles for the ribbing, then continue with circulars for the main cap, or, if you wish, begin with circulars and knit back & forth for the ribbing, then join for the main part. Peak and Button Cover are knit on straight needles.
