Nicka Socks is my contribution to Mominoki Abo 2025. Its key feature is the front gusset — actually I
wanted to design unique socks and experimented with this heel gusset placed on the front side. I also
paid a particular attention to the pattern arrangement so the socks are comfortable to weear. Nicka is in
fact my favorite dancer’s name whose dance is lithe and beautiful and I wanted these socks to be as
appealing as her dance.
The socks are worked from the cuff down in the round. The heel is then worked back and forth and
joined in the round again with the front side on which we work decreases to form a gusset. The leg
comes in three lengths that differ in the number of the large cables. All lengths can be knit with a single
skein of Mominoki yarn’s Sock Fine. I recommend using this yarn that gets soft and squishy with
blocking.

Nicka SocksはMominoki Abo 2025のためにデザインしたパターンです。一番の特徴は、”Front gusset”です。少し変わった靴下を作ってみたくて踵のマチを前面に作ってみました。快適な履き心地になるように模様の配置にこだわりました。”Nicka” は私が好きなダンサーの名前です。しなやかで美しく魅せるNickaのような靴下を目指してデザインしました。魅せ方と履き心地にこだわった靴下です。
履き口から輪で編みます。往復編みで踵を作ったら、再び前面と一緒に輪にします。前面で減らし目をしてマチを作りながら足部分を輪で編んでいきます。Legの長さは3種類から選ぶことができ、どの長さも1カセで編むことができます。前面の大きなケーブル模様の数によって長さが変わります。Mominoki YarnのSOCK FINEは水通しをするとフワッと柔らかい編み地になります。ぜひ指定糸で編んでみてください。
