The star shaped notion holder is knitted as a pentagon on double pointed needles or circular needles from the outside edge towards center. Each of the five star points are then turned under to the wrong side and sewn, leaving an opening large enough to allow yarn to be inserted to fill in the shape. The finished star measures 8½ inches from point to point.
