Gauge is not critical to this pattern, but note that the size of the finished Nigel will vary depending on the yarn type, hook size, and tension. The yardage listed below is an estimate.

This pattern is worked in continuous rounds. If using the recommended yarn and hook size, the finished dimensions of Nigel will be approximately 3 inches tall (5.5 inches with the hat) and 7.5 inches wide on the body. Written in US terminology.

Note that if you choose not to add the wires, you will not be able to pose Nigel as pictured.
