This pattern was originally designed for the Super Sock Scarefest group, and is now available to the general public. It was inspired by the 1972 classic movie Night of the Lepus, staring DeForest Kelly. The movie is supposed to be about giant blood-thirsty killer rabbits, but the effects are so bad that you just know these bunnies are of the cute and cuddly variety. In one scene, you can even see the bunny wrangler pushing rabbits along with a broom! The “camp factor” led to the creation of these ‘terrifying’ bunny socks.

You will need:

  • one 100g skein of fingering weight sock yarn, plus about 10-15 yds each of white for the moons and tan for the bunnies.
  • stitch markers
  • US 2 (2.75mm) needles, or size necessary to obtain gauge

about gauge
Stranded knitting is tighter than stockinette, and knitting in the round is looser than knitting flat. To ensure proper fit, be sure to knit your swatch in the round, in the stranded pattern.

Enjoy!
