Nisse Norwegian Christmas Elf
Nisse is a mythological creature from Scandinavian folklore, typically associated with the winter solstice and the Christmas season today. This nisse is Norwegian Christmas elf.
Materials
3 different colors of yarn and 1 roving yarn for the beard. Traditionally, red or a bright color is for the cap. So, you may use any color for the cap. This pattern can be used for a gnome too!
Scissors, a tapestry needle, and Polyfill or similar stuffing.
1 set of double pointed needles. If you prefer to use the “magic loop” technique, you may use a 36” circular needle. Recommended using 2 - 3 needle sizes smaller than your yarn suggests.
Finished Gauge
Gauge is unimportant for this project.
Techniques
Cast On – Norwegian Long Tail. Leave the tail longer than usual for sewing.
K2tog – Knit 2 together
SSK – Slip Slip Knit
Kfb – Knit Front and Back
3 Needle Bind Off
