This shawl is knit using a traditional Shetland construction method. First, a short and wide garter-stitch triangle is worked from the bottom up, increasing at the edges. Yarnovers are worked at the beginning of every row to create the shaping and make visible loops along the bottom edge that stitches are then picked up from to work the lace border.

I highly recommend using a 47” circular needle with lace points.

You can use either Sport Weight or DK Weight yarn - I’ve written the pattern for both. If using the Five Oaks Farm Alpaca you will need 3 skeins to complete the shawl - if using the Blue Moon Fiber “Socks That Rock” Medium Weight yarn you will need 2 skeins.
