This stranded pattern was inspired by mermaids. The design features scale shapes that look as if the overlap as a fishes scales would. The pattern repeats are short and easy to memorise, with the scales appearing satisfyingly quickly.

This pattern covers children from newborn to 10 years old.

Gauge should be straightforward but it may be necessary to move up or down a needle size should your colour work stitches be tight or loose. As always a swatch can be helpful for this.

You will need:

DK Yarn, Main colour, Contrast Colour
3.5mm circular needles or double point needles
4mm circular needles and double point needles
Tapestry Needle
Stitch Marker to mark the beginning of the round

You will need a skein of each colour you plan to use, so two in total. The more contrasting the colours are the more visible the pattern is.
