This symmetrical triangle shawl is worked from one sharp end to the other, using simple lace, garter stitch and short-rows. Increases are worked every right side row in one end. The easy lace pattern and garter stitch sections stripe the shawl and a slightly waving border lace is worked before bind off. You can follow the written instructions for the lace pattern or the chart. The lace pattern is easy but interesting enough to knit, and what’s best of all - no purling!
The word Nizza is a Finnish word for the French town Nice. Nizza shawl was inspired by a lace pattern that women used for their shawls in the 19th century - in my imagination in their villas in the French Riviera. I didin’t want to translate the word, because Nice shawl has a totally different ring to it!
