This nifty little headband covers your ears and is functional as well as fashionable. Knit out of less than half a skein of bulky yarn, it is a quick and easy knit, perfect for warming your ears as you wander in the woods, or wherever you walk.

I managed to make an adult-sized headband from half a skein of Critical Hit Dyes Barbarian Bulky (109 yd/100 m). Your gauge may vary, but it is doubtful that it would take you more than one skein. This project is perfect for that single skein of bulky weight variegated yarn, as the stitch pattern is simple and won’t be hidden by a wild yarn.

You can knit this from any bulky weight yarn you like, but it is recommended that the fiber content be next-to-skin soft.

Size: The pattern and gauge are written for an adult size, but this can be downsized for a child easily, as it is knitted flat and then seamed. Gauge is not crucial, so long as you are knitting to your (or your subject’s) head size.
