Imagine in the cold winter when the snow falls, the day comes when you spend time in a wooden cabin turning on the stove and painting. Nonna Manmi Cardigan was designed imagining the cardigan you want to wear there.
A Smoke stitch is arranged at the middle of the back and a Mini Herringbone stitch is at the yoke. These two patterns are very harmonized. The body with a Stockinette stitch and the pocket with a Mini Herringbone stitch make the entire texture of the cardigan go well with it. The short 2x2 Ribbing on the hem, the cuff and the shawl collar make a cardigan very neat and cute.

METHOD

The cardigan is worked flat from the top down with the drop shoulder sleeves. Begin with a cast-on for the entire width of the upper back, shape with short rows to raise the back then work to the underarms in textures stitch-Mini Herringbone and Smock stitches, and place on hold. Stitches for the shoulders are picked up along the cast-on edge then the two front pieces are worked separately to underarms. The front and back pieces are joined at underarm and worked in one piece in stockinette stitch. When the body is complete, stitches for the neckbands are picked up along the opening of cardigan and shaped with short rows for shawl collar. The sleeves are picked up from the armholes and worked in round to the cuff. After finishing the cardigan, the pockets are attached onto the fronts.
