Nonni
My mom, or “Nonni” as she is called these days always loved a shrug or bolero. She was very petite, so they always looked great on her. I used the encoded lace technique to include the word Nonni in the lace panel on the back of this shrug. I like to include private messages in my patterns. I think of her whenever I wear this.
Nonni is a sport-weight shrug/bolero that I designed for my mom. It is knit up in a single piece, worked from the bottom up. It has a ribbed border on both ends, and the middle section is stockinette with a lace panel in the center. The lace panel began as the word Nonni encoded into the stitches.
The shrug is meant to have about 4” of positive ease. The openings for the arms hit just below the elbow. You can adjust the length of the shrug and the fit of the armholes by increasing or decreasing the number of rows in the center section.
