These are not the craftivist dishcloths you’re looking for. Unless of course you want them to be.

Maybe I decided I wanted to do something subtly subversive: simple, quick to knit with limited yarn quantities, and not another pussy hat. Maybe I was inspired by the line “rebellions are built on hope,” initially spoken by the “Star Wars” movies’ first Mexican lead actor. Though, really, it should be “nope.” Speaking as someone occasionally labeled a renegade (dangerous territory for an immigrant woman), rebellions are built on somebody saying “nope, not this time, not on my watch.”

Or maybe I just wanted discloths appropriate to my Death Star measuring cup set. Who knows?

Still, you could knit these up in pink, or even red-white-and-blue if you so choose.

To make it easier on everybody (myself included because I hate proofing written instructions), I’m giving you charts only. White = knit on RS/purl on WS; black = purl on WS/knit on RS. That’s all the stitches you need to know, no commentary on the binary nature of anything. Apologies if the black squares blend together, but please work them as if each 1 x 1 unit square (boundaries or no boundaries) is a single stitch in order to avoid frustration, and especially do not jump rows: these are not walls, but….

Come over for tea sometime and we can discuss how the Rebel Alliance is a grassroots organization fighting autocracy. Or something.
