This is the intermediate level PDF crochet pattern for the Nora cardigan. It is written in English and in US terminology. The pattern is built around graphs as well as written instructions for the sizes XS-5XL. It includes detailed instructions and pictures for the different techniques used. It explains how to read the graphs for the colourwork. The cardigan is made from two front panels and one back panel that are crocheted from the top down (so the length is adjustable). The sleeves and the trim/button band are then crocheted onto the connected panels. The pattern uses mostly half double crochet as well as single crochet. Since the non-working yarn is always being carried, there are not as many ends to weave in as you might first think. The pattern also comes with a lookbook of my talented and creative testers’ versions of the cardigan.

The Nora flower cardigan is a wearable, elegant and whimsical cardigan. It is perfect for adding something special to winter outfits (or summer outfits if you make it in a summer yarn). It is a big project that requires time and patience, but it is so worth it!

The pattern is graded for sizes XS-5XL. The sizes thereby correspond to chest sizes 71-158 cm or 28-62 inches. The cardigan has between 0-14 cm (0-5.5 inches) of positive ease around the widest part of the chest depending on what size you choose. The gauge for the pattern in half double crochet stitches is 22 stitches x 14 rows (10x10 cm or 4x4 inches). If you don’t know how to make a gauge swatch, this is explained in the pattern.

The materials needed are:
❁ 3 mm crochet hook (or hook size to meet the gauge)
❁ Thin super fine yarn (weight 1) in at least two colours:

  • I recommend yarns labelled as 10 cm (4”) = 24-27 STS in the knitting system.
  • Some yarn suggestions: Mini Alpakka by Sandnes Garn, DROPS Flora, Rauma Finull, Tynn Peer Gynt by Sandnes Garn
  • You can have a look at the last picture for more information about the sizes and yardage! ❁ Buttons (I used seven 12mm buttons) ❁ Scissors ❁ Measuring tape ❁ Stitch markers ❁ Tapestry needle

When purchasing the pattern you will receive three PDFs: one PDF with the written pattern and two PDFs with the graphs for the different sizes.
