Blooming Warmth …
A cosy colourwork cowl worked in the round and grafted for a seamless finish. Using three shades of DK yarn (or very light worsted), stranded motifs bloom across the fabric, creating warmth and timeless style.
Designed to be as joyful to knit as it is to wear, the double-layer construction keeps out the chill while letting your colour combinations shine.
Worked in the round with handy progress boxes, so you can keep a visual track of where you are.
Skills Used …
- Provisional cast on (video provided).
- Knit stitches.
- Colourwork (no more than two colours).
- Kitchener join (video provided).
You will need the following …
- DK/Very Light Worsted ~ Approx. 50g of 3 different colours. Your cowl will ‘pop’ nicely if your three colours all contrast with each other.
- 4 mm (US 6) circular needles, 16 inch / 40cm (or size needed to obtain gauge).
- 4mm crochet hook and length of scrap yarn for PCO.
- Spare 4mm needle tip and cable for Kitchener Stitch join.
- 9 stitch markers & 1 BOR.
- Tapestry needle (for sewing in those dreaded ends).
- Cake (not mandatory but always appreciated).
Gauge and Size …
Not all yarn or knitters are created equal so please be sure to check your gauge is the same as mine otherwise you may not get the same look.
Using 4mm (US 6) needles : Unblocked at 23 stitches and 26 rows (10 cm stocking stitch knit in the round).
Measurements (when blocked, laid flat and prior to joining the ends together) : Width = 21cm Length = 62 cm
I can’t wait to see your cowl so please do be sure to start a project page or tag me on Instagram and Facebook (#NordicBloomCowl @beanieboatdesigns).
If you like the look of this pattern it would be a huge help to me if you would give it a ‘like’ here on Ravelry as I have an overflowing notebook of ideas and this helps me understand what to work on next. Your support of my little dream is so appreciated. Every ‘like’ helps and it’s a known fact I do a tiny happy dance each time I get a notification. I am a terrible dancer!
