Nordic Stars is a pair of socks based on traditional Norwegian socks called ”Russelester” or ”Russesokker”. The socks are knitted in DK weight yarn, and have stranded colorwork all over. They are knitted top down, have an afterthought heel and a pointy toe, just as the tradition is. The heel is knit the same way as the toe. The shape of the heel allows stranded knitting to be part of the construction without needing to knit stranded colorwork on purl rows. In fact, the only purl stitches in these socks are the ones you find in the 2x2 rib at the cuff.
