Nordiska is a modern take on a classic Scandinavian style. I was inspired by traditional motifs from Norwegian Marius sweaters, reimagined in a loose, drapey fabric and updated silhouette. The sweater fits with an oversized, cropped fit, high, modest V neck and deep armholes. You can easily knit this design longer in both the body and sleeves if desired, but it will affect the yardage needed.

I worked with South African dyer Yama Fibre Art for this design, using her beautiful Merino Linen fingering weight singles yarn which has a gorgeous, soft drape. Thank you, Madeleine, for inspiring this sweater with your beautiful yarn! You can find her yarn here ! Check her site for shop update information.

If you wish to substitute a different yarn I recommend a single ply yarn with a bit of silk or linen, but any fingering weight yarn that gives you the proper gauge will work!

Needles:

Ribbing: US 2/2.75 mm
Main: US 4/3.5 mm
Other Notions:
Stitch markers, stitch holders (or scrap yarn), tapestry needle

Gauge:
20 sts and 28 rows/rounds over 4” 10 cm after blocking with larger needles in both colorwork and stockinette

Swatch both colorwork and stockinette as you may need to change needle sizes to maintain an even gauge. You should always knit your swatch the same way that the pattern is knit—in this case, in the round. Block your swatch as you will your finished garment and allow it to dry fully before measuring.
