Northern Lightness
Designed and knit in Iceland, where summer evenings are bright and breezy, Northern Lightness is an airy sweater worked at a loose gauge to create an open, breathable fabric.
The mesh effect is created by knitting stockinette stitch at a low gauge on larger needles, so the openness comes purely from gauge and yarn choice, which gives the fabric a soft, drapey structure.
The sample is a cropped raglan sweater with clean stockinette edges and no ribbing. It is worked with zero ease for a tailored silhouette. Light, versatile, and soft against the skin, it layers beautifully over dresses or high waisted trousers and can also be worn over swimwear on warmer days.
This version was created using Knittable’s customizable sweater base and can be adjusted for yarn, fit, length, and finishing details.
