A combination of Shetland and Faroese styles to incorporate garter lace with stay put shoulders, this pretty shawl is knit with worsted weight yarn to keep you cozy in Version One and with 4ply for a lighter look in Version Two. The heavier yarn and larger needles make a winter cozy shawl that will wrap right around and the 4ply or sock weight lace makes a lovely drapey accessory. It will look great over a jacket or coat and equally lovely over a dress or a simple Tshirt.

You will need 125m (140yds) of Colour 1, 170m (185yds) of Colour 2 and 250m (280yds) of Colour 3 to complete this pattern is three colours. I’m always generous with my yarn requirements because I hate nothing more than to be short a few metres to complete a project.

I made mine with a mohair wool blend for the worsted weight and a wool and silk for the 4ply but it will work up just as well in any worsted or 4ply (sock) weight including acrylic. I also made mine in three colours but I think it would be just as pretty made in a single shade. A single colour will give you a shawl that is truly reversible.
