Northfield
Northfield is a granny striped triangle shawl made out of fingering weight yarn. As both a knitter and a crocheter, I found that I had a lot of stray yarn left over from socks and single skeins of fingering weight yarn that I had stashed that I didn’t have a pattern in mind for.
I wanted a shawl that was triangular in shape, worked up quickly, and had an easily memorizable pattern that I could travel with. The answer came when I was about to teach a granny square class for Northfield Yarn and I was getting a little obsessive about granny squares. I love the fabric that was created in this shawl is and I wear it all the time.
There are a million different color combinations for this shawl. You could fall in love with a sock yarn that you would rather have around your neck and do this shawl in just one color. Or you could pick one skein of sock yarn and mix it with your odds and ends left over from socks or MadTosh Unicorntails the possibilities are endless!
Please enjoy this quick and easy shawl. And if you’re new to crochet or an old hand at it, I think there is something in this pattern for everyone.
