Hello and welcome, to my first ever published crochet pattern. Inspired by the wonderful Northern Lights yarn by James C Brett, and my own heritage as a Northumbrian lass, I have created this super simply but highly effective triangular shawl. Not only is it gorgeously squishy and warm, but the pattern really lends itself to variegated yarns and could easily be adapted to other yarn weights by switching to the correct hook size.

The shawl is one size, but you could make it larger or smaller by adding or taking away rows.

Pattern includes shelle dging, but you’ll see from my photos I don’t always add this.

I used a whole skein of Northern Lights or oddments of other DK. There is a lot of flexibility!

Gauge is not important - I like a loose tension for the drape, but it is entirely your preference.

There are some slight variations in my creations, and I am also including an example of a colour block version of the same pattern completed using some acrylic DK from my own stash. This is a great way of using up oddments and leftovers if you want to rationalise your stash, or indeed make room for more yarn goodies!

I hope you enjoy using this pattern.
