These mini ornaments are quick and satisfying to knit. Hang them individually or string together for a garland. Use any fingering weight yarn, speckled and short color repeats work best for non striped versions.

Supplies
1 set of 4 DP needles in size 2 us, 2.75 mm
Gauge: 7.5 sts. Per inch, 10 rows per inch
Finished length is 6 inches long
Two yards of white angora yarn
Fingering weight yarn,
Small bell, darning needle

Instructions
Cast on: With angora, 24 sts. Knit 1, purl 1 for 3 more rows.
Change to fingering wt yarn. (for stripes knit 3 rows mc and 3 rows cc for entire hat, ending with mc). At the same time decrease as follows:
Knit 7 rows, next row: (Knit 4, k2tog), repeat around. 20 sts.
Knit 6 rows, next row: (Knit 3, k2tog), repeat around. 16 sts.
Knit 5 rows, next row: (Knit 2, k2tog), repeat around. 12 sts.
Knit 4 rows, next row: (Knit 4, k2tog), repeat around. 10 sts.
Knit 3 rows, next row: (Knit 3, k2tog), repeat around. 8 sts. (it is easier to work on just 3 needles now)
Knit 4 rows, next row: (Knit 2, k2tog), repeat around. 6sts.
Knit 5 rows, next row: Knit 1, k2tog, knit 3. 5 sts.
Knit 5 rows, next row: Knit 1, k2tog, k2tog. 3sts.
Knit these 3 sts in the I-cord method on 2 needles for 6 rows, next row: k2tog, knit 1.
Next row: k2tog. Cut yarn and thread through remaining sts. and secure. Use this yarn to attach bell to tip of hat. Finish ends and block with slight curve in hat. Secure hanging thread at curve in hat.

The burgundy version is knit with Manos del Uruguay Alegria, in color #6729 Tannat. The fair isle pattern is knit with Paintbox Yarns Socks, in color #SN04 Lollipop. White angora is Bergere de France Angora, color #20044 Ecru.

18 yards fingering weight yarn
A set of 4 dp needles size 2 us, 2.75 mm
Gauge: 7.5 sts per inch, 10 rows per inch
Finished length cuff to toe is 5 inches
2 yards of DK Angora yarn, for 1 stocking, ( I used Bergere De France)
Darning needle & scissors

Sts/st - stitches/stitch
K2tog - knit 2 stitches together
P2tog - purl 2 stitches together
Ssk - slip stitch, slip another stitch, then knit them together

Instructions
With size 2 DP needles long tail cast on 20 sts. K1, p1, rib for 3 rows. Change to fingering Wt. Yarn and work St. st. until stocking measures 3 inches total or, to desired length before heel.
Heel:
Set up row, at the beginning of next rnd (needle #1) knit 5 sts and place remaining sts on needle #2. Turn work, slip first stitch purl wise and purl remaining 4 sts from needle #1. Purl 5 sts from needle #3 and place remaining sts onto needle #2. You will have 10 sts on needle #2 and 10 stitches on needle #1. You will be working back and forth on the 10 sts on needle #1 to make your heel.
Row 1: Right side, slip first st knit wise, knit 9 turn.
Row 2: Slip first st purl wise, purl 9 turn.
Continue through Row 7, right side has been knit, turn.
Row 8: Wrong side, slip 1, purl 5, p2tog, turn.
Row 9: Right side, knit 3, ssk, turn.
Row 10: Wrong side, purl 3, p2tog, turn.
Row 11: Right side, knit 3, ssk, turn.
Row 12: Wrong side: purl 3, p2tog, all sts used.
Row 13: Right side: knit 3, ssk, all sts used and 4 sts left on needle.
Instep and Foot:
Using needle #1 ( needle just used), pick up and knit 5 sts along side of heel. Knit across the 10 sts on needle #2. With needle #3 pick up and knit 5 sts on other side of heel and knit 2 sts from needle #1 onto needle #3. There will now be 7 sts on needles 1 & 3 and 10 on needle 2.

Row 1: Needle 1 - Knit 5, k2tog. Needle 2 - Knit all sts. Needle 3 - ssk, knit 5.
Row 2: Knit even around.
Row 3: Needle 2 - Knit 4, k2tog. Needle 2 - ssk, knit 6, k2tog. Needle 3 - ssk, knit 4.
Row 4,5,6,7,8,9: Knit even around. (at this point, I count sts instead of rows, it’s 108).
Row 10: Needle 1 - Knit 3, k2tog. Needle 2 - Knit all sts. Needle 3 - ssk, knit 3.
Row 11,12 - Knit even around.
Row 13: Needle 1 - Knit 2, k2tog. Needle 2 - ssk, knit 4, k2tog. Needle 3 - ssk, k2.
Row 14: Knit around.
Row 15: K2tog around, 6 sts left. Break yarn leaving 6-8 inch tail, draw through sts with darning needle and secure. Finish ends and enjoy!
Variation: Purl every 4th round for garter stripe that is seen in the white speckled version.
