This hat is worked in the round, beginning with increases and ending with decreases to form a sausage shape. One end is then tucked up inside the other and the brim folded up. As I knitted it, it’s fully reversible, and I made both sides different, one patterned and one plain, so it’s two hats in one!

This is a beginner pattern for colourwork in the round; it becomes very easy if it’s only worked in one colour.

You will need two 50gr balls in your main colour, and one in the contrast (my original model didn’t have enough difference between the colours, and the pattern doesn’t show up well - it’s actually a very nice traditional Norwegian star pattern).

Kyliekong has knitted a number of great variations; I’ve added a photo of one them, incorporating the Heartskull Hat chart.

I’ll be updating the pattern soon with DK yarn instructions.
