Released in November 2012, Nuphar Shawlette was retired from individual sale in November 2022.

The Nuphar Shawlette is a top down triangular shawl with flared ends for a slightly crescent profile. Lily pads
line the edges and center of the shawlette, while the body between the lily pads is worked in a garter ribbing to represent the barely-moving surface of a breeze-rippled pond. The border pattern is worked contiguously from one edge to another, minimizing the arrow point at the middle bottom of the shawlette.

Materials Needed:

  • 400 yards (366 m) fingering weight yarn (14 wpi)
  • 4mm (US 6) circular or straight needles

Optional:

  • Stitch markers to mark edge borders and the center stitch
  • Additional markers to mark repeats in the final chart

A note on gauge:
I do not consider gauge to be vital to any lace shawl, as it is not a fitted garment and therefore the overall size of the project matters less than the fabric produced. In fact, I encourage experimentation with yarn weight and needle sizes, with the understanding that if the yarn weight or needle size is quite a bit different from what is called for, it will affect the overall size of the finished item, as well as the yardage required.

Pattern revised April 2019.
