One of my favorite cakes is carrot cake - not because of the carrots, but because of the fun nuts and spices that always accompany them. This shrug is worked in one piece, from one sleeve cuff to the other, with minimal seaming at the underarm. It is in a fun Tunisian lace pattern, however you do not need a special long hook -- a regular one works just fine. The cabled edging is added join as you go once the body of the shrug is completed.

This is the fourth pattern in a book of layering pieces inspired by cake (and things I like with cake).
