These Oak Barrel Socks were inspired by a yarn the color of oak barrels, which reminded me of the fun I’ve had visiting wineries up and down California. I’ve used a simple knit-and-purl stitch to create alternating bands of ribbing to echo the look of wooden slats joined together. With their classic construction (cuff down with a flap heel) and simple stitch pattern, these socks are designed to be a quick and easy gift knit.

The top photo is of the magazine sample; the lower photos are of the prototype, which was worked in a different yarn, but gives you a clearer picture of the stitch pattern.
