100 years ago, Australian children’s author May Gibbs released Little Obelia and further adventures of Ragged Blossom, Snugglepot and Cuddlepie.

It was included in the book The Complete Adventures of Snugglepot and Cuddlepie

Little Obelia was my favourite May Gibbs story. I was drawn to the little mermaid baby who slept in an oyster shell and grew up into a strong Queen.

To celebrate the 100 year anniversary I have designed a blanket inspired by the underwater adventures, let me introduce you to Obelia…

The design:
Obelia is a highly textured lap sized blanket

Obelia is a complex level pattern that requires concentration and counting.

Materials needed:
Obelia was designed using 4 ply/fingering weight cotton from Bendigo Woollen Mills. I used a 3mm hook. I used 3250m total and it measures 130cm
