These faux-isle mittens (and coordinating beret) are perfect for gift giving and stash busting, especially for any small amounts of special yarn or handspun that are too good not to use. The yarn is knit tightly to make a dense, thin mitten that gives a more elegant fit, perfect for warmer climates or spring/fall.

These mittens are sold as a set with the coordinating Ocean Beret.

A wide variety of water a flame effects are possible by varying colors.

The original was knit in vintage handspun yarn. You will need 150-250 yards of the main color, and 50-70 yds of the contrasting color.

The wave motif is charted.

You can use light sport weight or heavy fingering for this mitten, it will be a bit stiffer and denser (and more windproof) with the thicker yarn.
