A top-down, slightly, crescent-shaped lace design featuring an underwater motif – think seaweed, bubbles, breaking waves and foam.

Knit in either stocking stitch with a central lace pattern (intermediate skill), or a developing lace pattern on two sides and a central lace pattern (advanced skill). The bottom edge is finished with a slightly ruffled lace edging, which also binds off the stitches as it proceeds.

Instructions give four exit points, allowing makers to decide the size of the shawl.

This pattern was designed primarily for handspun, but can be worked in sock weight or lace weight yarn using appropriate needles. Knitted in light fingering, it’s a light, cozy wrap suitable for Spring and Fall wear, or for cooler Summer evenings.

Up to 650 m/ 710 yds (200 gr/8 oz) of yarn may be needed to complete the full pattern. The smallest size will take approximately 450m/ 492 yds (150 gr/6 oz). Please view projects to see some examples in handspun.
