** Ocella — Jags ῾n᾿ Rings **

Inspired by the magic of colorful Peruvian garments, I have designed another skirt. Worked in double-threaded Alpaca yarn, this is a fleecy warm skirt just perfect for the fall, winter and spring. The short rows in the jag pattern may be an unusual approach, but they create a perfect fit, and everything you need to know—even if you are a beginner—(such as working short rows and jogless rings and spirals) is included in the pattern. This pattern will also work very well with a gradient yarn instead of separate color yarns, and it would also be an eye-catcher as a stash buster. No worries about different gauges with other yarns (two-threaded sock yarn will be fine as well); you should be able to get along using any yarn just with trying a swatch that comes close to mine, because the pattern contains a lot of helpful extra information.

Pattern files include

  • written instructions,
  • schematic,
  • tables,
  • six photo tutorials illustrating techniques,
  • close-up photos for visualization of construction.

What you will learn (if not already familiar with it):

  • to work short rows starting in a WS row as well starting in a RS row that you can apply to the construction of any skirt for good shaping,
  • to work jogless in the round (no “stairs”) when working stripes of a height of several rounds,
  • to work jogless in the round (no “stairs”) when working spirals of a height of only one round (different technique necessary),
  • some minor techniques such as invisible grafting (just a short area) and joining as you go.

Usage

Usage depends on your choice of yarns. I have given all usages for all sizes and all colors in the pattern—as well for when you are using only two yarns: a contrasting yarn and a colorful gradient yarn.

Other Material

  • US 6 / 4 mm circular needles
  • Stitch markers
  • Tapestry needle
