I created this mystery design as a surprise for my Facebook group members (see files in group).

DONE I will create a thread for sharing photos in my Facebook group on November 7 and make a draw for a free pattern on Nov 16: https://www.facebook.com/groups/ashleebrotzelldesigns/posts/986467282412836/

There are two files included: one for each colorwork technique.

Design is written in a repeatable fashion so you can make your project as wide and tall as you want.

Interlocking Crochet
• Chart is 41 x 19
• Finished size 10.75” x 5” / 27cm x 13cm
• 5 mm hook (U.S. H/8)
• Gauge: 8 (dc, ch) x 8 rows = 4”
• Worsted weight yarn (59 yards total)
o Main color (MC) / mystery image – 32 yards
o Accent color (AC) / background – 27 yards

Overlay Mosaic Crochet
• Chart is 35 x 12
• Finished measurements approximately 10” x 4” / 27cm x 10cm
• 5 mm hook (US7)
• Worsted weight yarn (70 + yards)
o Main color (background) – 49 yards
o Contrasting color (surprise image) – 21 yards
o Optional Envelope Border – depends

The Locked Filet Mesh (LFM) interlocking crochet method uses only chain spaces and double crochets to create a mesh; two colors are worked alternately which creates the pattern.

Mosaic crochet is single crochet and double crochet stitches. The double crochet stitches cover some of the other color’s single crochet stitches to create the design. My patterns instruct you to cut your yarn at the end of each row. The back is striped but often gives a faint impression of the pattern on the front (sort of like illusion knitting). See an example here.
