I love scarves, but I hate having a bunch of bulk around my neck. This angled cowl crochet pattern is the perfect solution to that. It pairs well with a jacket or coat, but you can also wear it around the office or house with a nice top!

This crochet pattern is worked in rows and finished with two rounds of border stitching to give it the uniquely angled shape. You’ll alternate between 3 basic stitch patterns, and the 3-color striping with the occasional row of BLO creates a striking look. However, the textured stitches and the even rows of the herringbone half double crochet mean that, even worked in one color, this crochet cowl will really pop.

If you’ve never done a herringbone half double crochet, don’t fear. I’ve given both written and photo instructions on how to complete it, and once you’ve mastered this crochet stitch, I think you’ll fall in love with how flat and evenly it works up. I’ve also included a photo tutorial for the invisible join, which will give your border an advanced, finished look.
