No need to worry about large numbers of stitches to cast on or bind off. This large rectangular shawl starts with a cast on of only 9 stitches and ends with a bind off of twelve.

Gauge is not critical, use a yarn/needle combination that makes a nice drapey fabric. It will however affect the amount of yarn needed.

I used two colours of fingering weight yarn but it can be done in one colour.
