Octopus Steering Wheel Cover
Octopus Steering Wheel Cover
Keep your hands from getting scalded on the steering wheel in the heat of summer
Warning: I cannot recommend using this while driving as it could interfere with safe driving. The intent with this pattern is for a cover that sits when you’re not in the car so that it prevents overheating of the steering wheel.
You will need:
Crochet hook size K/6.5mm
Any color 4ply Medium worsted weight cotton yarn.
I used Peaches & Creme in Creamsicle and one with a blend of blues and greens.
Stitch markers are also suggested.
2 buttons or sew-on eyes for the octopus eyes.
You will need less than 1 skein of each color.
Stitches/terms you need to know:
MR – Magic Ring Optional for this pattern
CH – chain stitch
SC – Single Crochet
HDC – Half Double Crochet
YO – Yarn Over
ST – Stitch
SL – Slip Stitch
Inc. – Increase (2 SC’s, or other specified stitch type, in the same ST)
Dec. – Decrease (Spreading a SC across the next 2 stitches, turning the 2 into 1 ST)
MC or C1 – Main Color or Color 1 (octopus)
C2 – Color 2 (cover)
The body of the Octopus is worked “in the round” which, for the purpose of this pattern, means it’s a continuous spiral. Because of this, I strongly suggest the use of stitch markers to help you count the rows if you aren’t sure on how to do so without them.
This pattern is my own design and NOT for resale or to be given freely to others. I work hard to make my patterns and don’t appreciate my hard work being stolen. This includes alterations to re-sell as your own work. I have children to feed and care for. If you wish to make and sell the item(s) this pattern teaches you to make, that’s fine, but please credit me and be sure to use your own pictures to represent your work.
