Octopus Toy for Preemie
This is crochet PATTERN for a preemie octopus stuffed toy.
So why these sea creatures exactly? The design of the crocheted tentacles gives the babies something to hold and squeeze, and that can be a good thing for regulating everything from oxygen intake to heartbeats. What’s more, the tentacles might be helpful at keeping the tiny patients from pulling out their tubes and the tentacles replicate the umbilical cord from the womb, which can be of comfort for premature babies.
A finished octopus measures about 9 cm / 3 ⅝ “ tall (not including tentacles). You can made larger/smaller with different hook sizes.
The pattern is worked in spirals; there will be no joining of rounds.
You will need:
cotton 100% - 70-90 yards;
polyester wadding or filler for pillows - 25-30 grams;
fine knit cotton - 12 x 10 cm / 4 x 3 inches
Crochet Hook: 2 mm
