After bringing home a skein of Garnsurr Jordeplu from the Oslo Strikkefestival 2019, I was so inspired to design a pretty sock pattern. At the same time I couldn’t get the name Odeline out of my head, that I had encountered in the book ‘The Witches of New York’ by Ami McKay. And thus the Odeline socks were born. I hope this sock pattern will bring knitters as much fun as I had designing them.

Odeline as a girls’ name is a Greek name, and the name Odeline means “song”. Odeline is a version of Odele (Greek): also possibly (German) “rich”.

This pattern offers two sizes. (M/L). If you usually knit your socks at around 64 sts on a 2.25 mm needle, I would go with the larger size. The cabled pattern makes the socks a bit more snug. But blocking the Medium-sized sock to size, using sock blockers, did work for me. So it all depends on what type of fit you prefer.

Sample sock was knit out of Garnsurr sokkemerino sock yarn in the Jordeplu colourway.
