Off Grid was designed as my perfect gardening sweater for cooler months. I have a tendency to overheat in full length sleeves so I wanted something more suited to layering and this sweater fits the bill!

Oversized fitting, with pattern going up to 190cm/75” at the bust; longer length at the back (to eliminate cold drafts when digging the veggie plot!); textured stitching on the yoke and sleeves adds a little interest and two neck rib finishes are offered - basic wide neck and a super cosy loose roll neck for extra warmth.
Front and back are knitted flat and seamed at the shoulders using a 3-needle bind off. Sides are seamed to underarm then stitches are picked up for sleeves, which are knit in the round. Neck stitches are picked up and neck ribbing is worked in the round to desired finish.

Skill Level
Easy - just knits and purls, no shaping, some knitting in the round

Skills required

  • knitting flat and in the round
  • knits and purls
  • picking up sts for sleeves and neckline
  • 3 needle bind off and sewn seams

A note on choosing the right size
Off Grid is designed to be worn with up to 37.5cm/15” positive ease at bust. Size 1 will fit a standard size XS (71-76cm/28-30” bust) with 25-30cm/9.5-11.5” positive ease at bust or standard size M (91.5-96.5cm/36-38” bust) with 9.5-3.5cm/1.5-3” positve ease so it really depends how loose or fitted you want your finished Off Grid sweater to be!
