This pattern came about when I decided to use more of the single skeins of yarn I had in my stash. The projects had to be smaller in size and practical, that was my requirement when I started knitting these items. This pattern turned into 3 small designs for accessories that everyone can get a use of in an office - a pair of fingerless mitts, a small fidget toy and a tiny scarf.

These projects are based on a specified gauge and hopefully yarn you already have in your stash. You don’t have to have yarn already, but the probability that you have something you can use is very high. The mitts are knitted with a sport weight yarn with a gauge of 24/10 cm, the fidget toy from a DK wool yarn with a gauge of 20/10 cm and the scarf from a blow yarn or combinations of yarns that give a gauge of 16/10 cm. The items only have one size, but a lot can be changed with a different gauge and your own measurements.

The mitts are knitted from the cuff and upwards, first with a regular ribbing, then in stockinette and ending with a regular ribbing again. Increases are made for the thumb and stitches for the thumb are set aside as you knit. Both mitts are exactly the same since the increases are made in the middle of the thumb. The mitts can be knitted on magic loop or double pointed needles - DPN’s.

The fidget toy is made for knitting in the round on magic loop, but if you are used to knitting with few stitches on DPN’s you can use that too. You start in the middle of one flat circle, increase until the width is reached, decrease on the other side and knit in 4 pieces of scrap yarn to make the columns later on. The column in the middle is knitted at the same time as the top and the bottom are knitted. The 4 columns are closed using Kitchener stitch at the end.

The scarf is worked back and forth in stockinette with increases every 4th row in the middle and at different rates in the sides. This is a very easy construction that can be knitted in many combinations of yarns.

• Decrease left
• Cast on around a ring
• Increase 1 by knitting 2 in 1
• Increase 2 by knitting 3 in 1
• Putting stitches on hold by using scrap yarn
• Kitchener stitch stockinette
