Ogopogo Socks
Ogopogo, also known in Salish as Naitaka (”lake demon”), is the lake monster reported to reside in Okanagan Lake, BC, in Canadian folklore. The wavy stitch pattern represents the ripples on the surface of the lake as well as the form of Ogopogo.
The pattern is for a pair of toe-up socks with Eye of Partridge short row heel construction. The stitch pattern is the Ripple Pattern from Wendy Bernard’s The Knitting All Around Stitch Dictionary (STC Craft/A Melanie Falick Book, 2016).
Yarn: Mineville Wool Project sport weight 80% Merino wool and 20 % nylon (345 m/377 yd/115 g/4 oz). The colourway of the sample sock is Ogopogo.
Needles: 2 3-mm (US 2 - 3) 60-cm (24-inch) circular needles. This pattern is written with the two-circular-needles method in mind but can be knitted with DPNs or circular needles using the magic loop method.
Dimensions: Sock circumference = 20 cm (8 inches)
Sock foot and leg lengths are adjustable.
