oh silly hat
DESCRIPTION
oh silly hat is a top down hat knitted in the round in 2x2 rib. It looks very silly when unstretched (hence the name). It’s knitted in bulky weight yarn and it makes a super quick last minute gift project. The construction makes it a great advanced beginner project for knitters who want to up their knitting hat game.
LEVEL
The start can be a bit fiddly, especially if it’s the first time using the cast on used, so I would say this is an advanced beginner pattern for adventurous beginners (or an intermediate pattern for not very adventurous knitter). Videos are included to help you with each step.
SIZING
Two sizes, to fit a head circumference of:
Size 1: 54 - 57 cm / 21,2 - 22,4 inches
Size 2: 58 - 61 cm / 22,8 - 24 inches
YARN
Size 1: 80 - 90 meters / 87 - 98 yards
Size 2: 95 - 110 meters / 103 - 120 yards
Bulky weight yarn
The sample was knitted in Drops Andes (65% wool, 35% alpaca)
NEEDLES AND GAUGE
8,0 mm / US 11 circular needles at least 40 cm / 16” long
You can use DPNs or a longer circular needle and use magic loop
18 sts x 15 rows (10 x 10 cm / 4 x 4 inches) on 8,0 mm needle in 2x2 rib unstretched
MATERIALS
-Bulky weight yarn
-8 stitch markers
-Darning needle
-An extra pair of circular needles the same size or a size smaller
